FAQ

Where are you based?

I’m based in both Leeds and Manchester, but I regularly travel across the UK for shoots. Whether you're in the North or further afield, I’m happy to discuss projects wherever they take me.

What kind of projects do you work on?

I specialise in branded content, documentary, commercial, and educational films. I’ve worked with agencies, production companies, charities, and direct clients, always aiming for clean, cinematic visuals that serve the story.

What camera do you use?

I shoot primarily on the Sony FX6, paired with a range of cinema lenses and professional support gear including a gimbal, MYT Works slider, and full lighting and sound kits. I also own a Sony FS7 MK2 B Camera and a Sony A7IV Camera.

Do you offer lighting and sound as well?

Yes - I come fully equipped with a lighting and sound package suitable for interviews, run-and-gun documentary setups, and commercial shoots. I can also scale up with additional crew if needed.

Can you operate a drone?

Yes - I’m a licensed GVC drone operator and shoot cinematic aerial footage. Drone services can be booked alongside regular camera work or as standalone shoots.

Can you help crew a shoot?

Absolutely. I can help crew up your shoot, whether you need a gaffer, AC, sound recordist, or full production team. I work with trusted freelancers across the North and beyond.

Do you work alone or with a team?

It depends on the scale of the shoot. I’m happy to work solo for smaller productions or bring in trusted crew for larger projects. I’m flexible and collaborative.

What are your rates?

Day rates as a DoP start from as little as £650, which includes my camera, lighting, and sound kit. Additional services like gimbal, drone work, or an assistant can be added as needed. I’m happy to provide tailored quotes depending on your project.

How far in advance should I book?

Availability varies - if you’ve got dates in mind, it’s always best to get in touch early. That said, if you have a last-minute project, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Are you insured?

Yes - I carry full public liability insurance and am properly covered for both ground and aerial work.

What’s the best way to contact you?

You can reach me directly via the contact form. I aim to respond within 24 hours.

Do you direct as well as shoot?

Yes - while my main focus is cinematography, I occasionally step in as a director for select projects, especially branded or educational films where a small, experienced crew is needed.

Can you work with our in-house team or agency creatives?

Absolutely. I'm used to collaborating with creatives, producers, and in-house teams, and can adapt to existing workflows or lead from a visual standpoint where needed.

Do you offer editing?

Editing isn’t my core focus these days, but I can recommend talented editors I trust - or step in if needed on smaller, fast-turnaround jobs.

Do you offer half-day rates?

I typically work on a full-day basis due to the nature of the kit and prep involved, but feel free to reach out — I’m always open to discussing your needs.

Can you work internationally?

Yes - I’ve worked on projects abroad and hold a valid passport. I can travel for shoots with the right permissions and insurance in place.

Can you help plan the shoot or recommend locations?

Definitely - I’m happy to advise during pre-production, help scout locations, and offer input on what’s visually achievable based on your goals and budget.

What happens if the weather’s bad on a drone day?

24 hours before a shoot day I will always assess the situation safely and professionally. If we need to reschedule, I’ll work with you to find the best alternative date and minimise disruption.
